Rainforest Cafe, a tropical-themed restaurant chain, reopened its doors in April in Katy Mills Mall after a brief closure for renovations.

A closer look

According to an April 24 news release, the cafe closed March 24 for several renovations including:
  • A new front entrance with Aztec statues
  • Additional lighting and effects
  • An LED “night sky” ceiling
  • Semi-private Aztec-themed seating area for events, birthdays and group dining
  • Changes in bar area theme from mushrooms to Aztec
  • Updated booth seating

“Renovations were focused on enhancing the overall guest experience,” Rainforest Cafe officials said in an email. “Rainforest Cafe is a beloved and immersive destination, and this update reflects our commitment to maintaining a high-quality, modern dining environment while preserving the charm and adventure guests know and love.”

The Katy location—founded in 1999—is one of 22 locations worldwide, including three other Texas locations in Galveston, Grapevine and San Antonio, according to its website.
