Christian Brothers Automotive is expanding its footprint to a 7.5 acre campus in Katy.

The big picture

The automotive repair franchise will bring a nearly 14,000-square-foot training center to Katy featuring vehicle lifts, diagnostic equipment and automated driving system tools to better train and retain employees, Chief Development Officer Michael Suttle said. The estimated $12 million facility will allow the company to move training from its current space in the Energy Corridor.

“I really think that in the end, what we’re trying to do with this is ... if we want to be the best in class as a brand, we need to train the best,” he said.

The Houston-based Christian Brothers Automotive, founded in 1982, has more than 310 locations nationwide, according to its website.

What else?

The automotive business also plans to move its support headquarters to the campus by 2030, Suttle said. The move will bring its approximately 180 support employees to the area with the potential to grow to up to 500 employees as the franchise continues to grow.
