The Texas Department of Transportation will be working on a section of the I-610 Loop this weekend that will require some major lane closures.

Three alternating lanes will be closed continuously on I-610 southbound from I-10 Westheimer Road, including the I-10 connector ramps to I-610 southbound from 8 p.m. May 1 to 5 a.m. May 4.

At least one lane will remain open at all times, according to TxDOT.

Crews will be restriping lanes to return the main lanes to their final configuration on the elevated bus lane project. The bus lane, along with the Uptown Management District's Boulevard Project, will support the city's first bus rapid-transit line.

All closures are subject to change due to inclement weather. TXDOT is asking drivers to continue to be cautious in the construction area.

The IH-610 West Loop Dedicated Bus Lane project aims to improve mobility and safety by adding dedicated right of way and separating buses from general traffic to help reduce congestion on IH-610 West Loop. This TxDOT project will work in tandem with the dedicated bus lane project under construction by the city of Houston and the Uptown Management District, which is already underway from IH-610 West Loop to Richmond.

Additional road closure updates are posted to Houston TranStar.
