Live music venue White Oak Music Hall is celebrating five years of hosting local, national and international artists this August with a free fan appreciation party slated for Aug. 21.

The venue—which held its first concert Aug. 18, 2016, at its home two miles north of downtown—has hosted close to 1,700 concerts in its first five years for more than 1 million guests, according to an Aug. 4 press release.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, fans and supporters of the venue raised nearly $70,000 for furloughed staff, said Jagi Katial, managing partner and Pegstar Concerts principal, in a statement.

“We’re constantly amazed and thankful for the outpouring of love and support from White Oak’s ardent supporters and fans over the past five years,” Katial said. “This anniversary celebration is just a small way of saying thank you as we continue to build upon the foundation we’ve established for years to come.”

A number of local musicians will contribute their talents to the party, including the Houston-based folk rock band Ruckus, indie pop band Camera Cult, the singer/songwriter Marley Moon and the Houston native hip hop artist iLL LiaD. A montage of photos from White Oak concerts over the years will be displayed during a set from Hiram, a local DJ.

The celebration will also include giveaways, drink specials and complimentary servings of alcohol-infused birthday cake from the bakery Bundt Cake-A-Holic, according to an Aug. 4 press release.

Attendees must RSVP online, and the party kicks off at 5 p.m. Entry is free for those over age 21, but $5 will be charged for everyone under age 21.

Other upcoming shows include The Mountain Goats and Tune-Yards, who will play the downstairs stage on Aug. 12 and Aug. 13, respectively. Gary Allen takes the outdoor stage Aug. 14 while The Elovators will play the upstairs stage later that night.

The venue is located at 2915 N. Main St., Houston.
