Portland based Voodoo Doughnut, which is set to open its first Houston location at 3715 Washington Ave., Suite A, Houston, plans to hire 70 people ahead of its planned January launch. A job fair will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 14-15 at the new location. The doughnut shop, known for its iconic pink boxes and tongue-in-cheek offerings, pays employees starting wages of $11.50 an hour, and employees also become benefits-eligible when they work 25 hours per week or more. More than 500 people have already applied for this location, according to a statement from Voodoo. A second Houston location is planned for 1719 Westheimer Road, at a later date. www.voodoodoughnut.com
