After two years in charge of the police force of the state's largest school district, former Houston ISD Police Chief Paul Cordova has accepted a post at neighboring Aldine ISD.

“I am super excited to welcome Chief Cordova to Aldine ISD,” Aldine ISD Superintendent LaTonya Goffney said in an announcement by the district April 30. “Mr. Cordova brings a wealth of law enforcement experience and we feel he will be an outstanding leader who will guide our police department as we move forward. As a bonus, he’s a member of our community. His family lives in Aldine and his children are graduates of Nimitz High School.”

Aldine, located in north Houston, has an enrollment of around 70,000.

Prior to joining HISD as an assistant chief in 2017, Cordova had over 30 years of experience with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Cordova's last day with HISD will be May 13. An interim appointment has not yet been announced.
