Honest Mary's has opened its first Houston location in the River Oaks Shopping Center, according to a Dec. 4 social media post from the restaurant.

The overview

Originally based out of Austin, the franchise is a healthy, fast-casual concept serving grain bowls, sipping broths and aguas frescas. Signature bowls range from aloha poke to Mediterranean harissa, with each bowl featuring a green or grain base, fresh proteins, freshly cooked vegetables and toppings.

The eatery is located where the La Madeline restaurant used to be, as previously reported by Community Impact.

Honest Mary's founder, Nelson Monteith, said he wanted the concept to fill the gap between healthy eating and a busy lifestyle.

“River Oaks Shopping Center has a unique blend of history and vibrant new concepts, making it the ideal home for us,” Monteith said in a November 2024 news release. “We’re thrilled to join this Houston icon and add Honest Mary’s to the mix. Bringing our healthy, locally inspired flavors to a community that values quality food and wellness feels like a natural fit, and we’re excited to be part of the energy and growth happening here.”

Honest Mary's serves counter-service lunch and dinner daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with dine-in, takeaway and online ordering options for pickup or delivery.
