A popular Korean barbecue restaurant from Houston's Chinatown opened a new location in the Heights in late July, according to the restaurant's social media.

What they offer

Handam BBQ's Heights location marks the restaurant's second locale in Houston. The restaurant is located on 2805 White Oak Drive, the same location occupied by now-closed Korean steakhouse concept Karne.

Handam BBQ opened its doors in Chinatown in 2020, serving all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ. Korean BBQ is a style of dining where slices of meats are grilled at the table, with Handam BBQ using smokeless charcoal grills, according to the restaurant's website.

Handam BBQ serves their Korean barbecue a-la carte or as an all-you-can-eat with two different options.

Option A provides meats such as:
  • Ribeye bulgolgi
  • Sliced beef brisket and belly
  • Pork belly
  • Gochujang pork jowl
  • Marinated chicken kalbi
  • Marinated pork spare ribs
Option B provides free appetizer options such as cheese corn, egg custard and Korean stew, with meats from option A as well as more premium meats such as:
  • Marinated hanger steak
  • Sliced beef tongue
  • Sirloin steak
  • LA Kaibi (marinated beef short ribs)
Handam BBQ also serves sushi, free with the all-you-can-eat option B. They serve classic rolls such as the Alaska roll, volcano roll, Philly roll and crunchy roll.
