Via 313 debuted its third Houston location this September with a grand opening in the Heights.

How it happened

The Austin-based pizza brand held a grand opening Sept. 23 for the launch of the Heights restaurant located off North Shepherd Drive. The celebration comes on the heels of the brand's most recent opening in Webster in August. With another location in Katy, the Heights marks the pizzeria's third claim in the Houston region.

“This opening is so special to us because it confirms that our Texas community is continuing to embrace the Detroit-style pizza that we love,” co-founder Brandon Hunt said. “Texas is our home and we want to continue growing here.”

Via 313 was founded by brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt in 2011. The duo was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, before moving to Austin.

The business started with a mobile trailer on East 6th Street and Waller 13 years ago. With the opening of the Heights location, the Hunts now have 21 locations nationwide.

What's on the menu?

Via 313 serves a variety of Detroit-style pizzas, which is a rectangular pan pizza with a thick crust. The menu includes classic options such as cheese, pepperoni and sausage.

Specialty pizzas include the Rocket, featuring hot calabrese, arugula and shaved parmesan; the Cadillac, with prosciutto, gorgonzola, parmesan, fig preserves and balsamic glaze; and the 500, a pizza with natural casing pepperoni, jalapeno and pineapple rings.

The restaurant also offers gluten-free crust, dairy-free cheese and vegetarian options. Other menu items include thin-crust pizza, salad, cheese bread and dessert items.
