Officials with Berg Hospitality announced their new restaurant and ice cream bar concept, Buttermilk Baby, will open in the M-K-T Heights shopping center in September.

In a nutshell

Buttermilk Baby is defined as a mix of fine dining and fast-casual to create a new concept Berg Hospitality calls "cool casual."

The concept, announced in March 2023, was initially slated to open last September.

The restaurant will be a twist on the all-American soda fountain diner, with vintage aesthetics and a menu that includes comfort food crafted from top-tier ingredients such as burgers, fried chicken and biscuits.

The new concept will also feature a partnership with the ice cream brand Carvel to create unique frozen creations that would have been served at a nostalgic ice cream bar in the 1950s, officials said.

Other restaurants owned and created by Berg Hospitality in Houston include B&B Butchers and Restaurant, Turners Cut and Trattoria Sofia.
