Following a soft opening in December, a grand opening took place for Space Cadet on Jan. 26, bringing a selection of Cajun, American, Tex-Mex and barbecue dishes to the Heights area.

The venue is positioning itself to appeal to Houston sports fans, with menu options such as "The 2017 World Series Champions Banging Trash Can Nachos," made with housemade chips, choice of chicken or beef, queso, sour cream, guacamole, jalapenos and pico de gallo. The eatery also offers brunch options, including steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, and whiskey-bent French toast, made with housemade bourbon butter.

Space Cadet offers 19 draft beer options, according to its website, as well as several Houston-themed cocktails, including the William P. Hobby, billed as an Irish version of the Paper Plane.

The new restaurant opened at the site formerly occupied by Main Street Tap and Grill, which closed in 2022, and features a large outdoor seating area.
