Two new restaurant concepts from the Dallas-based Vanderlay Hospitality Group are opening this fall in River Oaks and Montrose, including a swanky Hollywood-inspired lounge and a long-awaited American comfort food eatery.

After initially targeting 2021 for the debut of the River Oaks location of Hudson House, Vanderlay officials are now looking toward an October opening at 1966 W. Gray St., Houston, according to a news release.

Hudson House specializes in American dishes, with several signature items inspired by East Coast fare, according to the release, including oysters flown in fresh daily. Other menu items will include burgers, fried chicken, lobster rolls, fish tacos, sushi and steak frites. Cocktail offerings will include a selection of martinis.

The restaurant also offers a weekend brunch and a happy hour that will run on weekdays from 3-6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Drake’s Hollywood will open in November at 1100 Westheimer Road, Houston, in the former location of Underbelly. The restaurant will be "reminiscent of the grandeur of the most legendary venues of Hollywood’s Golden Era," according to the release, with leather banquettes and original art that pays homage to Hollywood icons.

Drake's will offer a selection of craft cocktails and vintage wines, and food options will include wagyu and prime cut steaks, Melrose cracker-crust pizza, and pasta and seafood options.

Both Drake’s and Hudson House can be found in the Highland Park neighborhood of Dallas as well as in California.
