Officials with Berg Hospitality Group, whose Houston-area concepts include B&B Butchers & Restaurant and B.B. Lemon, have announced plans for two new concepts coming to Washington Avenue in Houston.

Construction is underway at 1818 Washington Ave., Houston at the site where both a new upscale Chinese restaurant and a British Caribbean rooftop lounge are slated to open in April. The venues will be located next door to B&B Butchers, according to a Jan. 26 press release from Berg Hospitality.

The Chinese eatery, Benny Chows, will be located in a 5,489-square-foot space on the first and second floors of the building. The menu will focus on Cantonese food "with a nod to Houston dining culture," according to the release. Dishes will include dumplings, fried rice and noodle dishes, as well as rotating seasonally inspired dishes. The eatery will also have a Peking duck room.

“Growing up in New York, there were three types of comfort food: Italian, bagels and Chinese,” Berg Hospitality founder Benjamin Berg said in a statement. “I wanted to bring an ingredient-driven approach to the American Chinese food I grew up eating but with top notch service and a vibrant atmosphere.”

The rooftop lounge will be called Canopy Social, and will be located in a 5,200-square-foot space on a third-story rooftop, providing a view of the Houston skyline. It will offer a menu of light bites and craft cocktails.

The space will be decorated with greenery and water features in an effort to create "an oasis in the middle of the city," according to the release.
