With a distinct facade made of glass and steel rising up 36 stories over Buffalo Bayou, the luxury hotel Thompson Houston is set to open its doors Dec. 21 at 1717 Allen Parkway, Houston, according to an Oct. 11 news release.

The hotel will feature 172 guest rooms, including 34 suites with floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of Houston's skyline. Guests will have access to a 1-acre outdoor rooftop with a custom-tiled infinity pool and cabana area. Rooftop restaurant and lounge Sol 7 will offer cocktails and food alongside a 2,500-square-foot green space setting.

A wellness floor will feature six treatment rooms, a hair and nail salon, a relaxation sanctuary, and a spa area, among other amenities.

Two additional unnamed restaurants will open within the hotel:
  • A traditional French brasserie-style restaurant that will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, and regular live entertainment
  • A cafe opening in partnership with the Houston-based Maven Coffee Company offering specialty coffees, pastries and coffee-based cocktails
Thompson Houston will also feature more than 17,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space to accommodate groups of up to 800 people, according to the release, including executive boardrooms, an 8,000-square-foot ballroom and customizable breakout rooms.
