Officials with Nashville-based real estate developer Southern Land Company announced plans to enter the Houston market with a mixed-use project in the Upper Kirby district in a July 18 news release.

Southern Land Company plans to develop the nearly two acres of land at 2811 Kirby Drive, Houston, into two buildings: a 36-story residential tower and a 75,000-square-foot office building. The project is slated to break ground in spring 2024, according to the release.

The residential tower will feature 318 luxury apartments along with 18 penthouses. Residents will be able to enjoy an outdoor pool deck on the 36th floor and a garden deck that spans both buildings on the seventh floor. The seventh floor will also feature a residential spa and guest suites in addition to a fitness center for residents and office tenants.

The office building next door will include a garage podium for parking and 22,000 square feet of rooftop and ground-level space for restaurants and retail shops.

Outside of Houston, Southern Land Company has several active and completed projects in Fort Worth, Dripping Springs, Allen and McKinney, among other Texas cities, as well as a regional office in Plano.
