Melrose, a stylish new cocktail bar in Montrose, will launch an all-day brunch service this April.

What you need to know

Melrose will officially initiate its Sunday "brunch to sunset" service at 11 a.m. on April 6 and has plans to expand with a Saturday brunch later in the month, according to an April 1 news release.

The cocktail lounge is open during the week from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Its regular menu includes signature cocktails, craft beers, wine and bottle service featuring top-shelf champagne and spirits, according to the release. Small plates and snacks include smoked beef sausage pigs in a blanket, charcuterie boards, a burger and spicy tuna rice crisps.

On the menu

The brunch menu is curated by Michelin-starred Chef Emmanuel Chavez, who adds a refined touch to several classics, per the release. Items include oysters on the half shell; charred tomatillo chilaquiles with poached eggs; acai bowls presented in a half coconut and set on dry ice; hanger steak and eggs; exotic fruit platters of mango, lychee, pineapple, dragon fruit and star fruit; brioche bun breakfast sandwiches; and the Melrose Tower—a tiered presentation of house-cured lox, mini bagels, chive cream cheese and other accompaniments.

These dishes will pair with Melrose's handcrafted cocktails, such as a mango habanero margarita and the rose and elderflower-flavored gin and tonic. Three new signature drinks will also join the beverage menu for brunch, which include:
  • Melrose Spritz—with wild orange tea-infused Aperol, lychee, lemon and Prosecco
  • Bloody Mary—with basil and sundried tomato vodka, as well as clarified tomato water
  • Michelada Verde—Mexican beer mixed with blistered tomatillo juice, adobo chiles and garnished with grilled pineapple

The background

Melrose opened its doors just before the new year, ushering in a new era for a 1930s-era Montrose landmark, according a Jan. 13 news release on the debut.

Replacing Tex Mex patio bar La Grange, which closed in January 2024, the new venue aims to offer “a magical, sophisticated space inspired by biomorphic design, organic shapes, layered textures, hidden lighting and standout features," including a lightbox tunnel, a floating bar structure and a topography-inspired ceiling, per the release.

The inside opens to a lush patio space furnished with lounge seating and vignettes, fire pits and another bar.
