Houston-area cocktail bar Clarkwood will double its footprint along Allen Parkway with an expansion project set to conclude this fall, according to a Sept. 5 news release.

What's changing?

The boutique bar is adding a 1,500-square-foot courtyard bar to the space. The patio-centric area will debut this fall and stretch the length of Clarkwood's south face, per the release.

Guests can also expect an expanded menu with outdoor-inspired additions and patio libations exclusive to the courtyard bar, per the release.

Designed by Houston-based interior design studio Gin Design Group, Clarkwood's courtyard bar will feature a long bar top that's half inside a glass roof enclosure and half within the open patio with banquette seating.

Fixtures will include communal tables, fixed seating and oversized planters awash in natural light and neutral tones, according to the release.

Diving in deeper

Founders Mason Clark and Army Sadeghi opened the intimate cocktail destination in January 2022. It is meant to embody a 1930s Spanish and Mediterranean style, per the release.

“There’s something so magical and almost Old Hollywood about this location," Clark said in a statement. "We have [a] wonderful set of eclectic neighbors that add to the charm and the experience of coming here, including acclaimed Andiron, which is also adding a patio next to us.”

Sadeghi, who is also planning to open a new bar in Montrose to replace the former La Grange space in the fall, said in the release the expansion will allow Clarkwood to offer more without compromising on quality or scale.

“The addition of The Clarkwood Courtyard Bar is a testament to our commitment to enhancing the guest experience while preserving the boutique, elegant charm that makes Clarkwood unique in Houston,” Sadeghi said in the release.
