On May 12, 1923, the Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park was born. One hundred years later, the establishment offers outdoor entertainment year-round, including a series of special events leading up to its centennial celebration.

For the big 100—taking place from 6-8 p.m. May 12—the Miller Outdoor Theatre will showcase the Houston Ballet's performance of George Balanchine’s "Jewels." Tickets are available on the Miller Outdoor Theatre's website.

In addition to the ballet, there will be two hours of preshow entertainment, including a juggler, performance artists, a caricaturist and a birthday cake provided by El Bolillo Bakery. There will also be photo installations of the theater showing scenes from throughout its 100-year history.

The anniversary celebrations continue for the remainder of Miller's 2023 season with family-friendly performances from Theatre Under the Stars running from July 14-15 and a steampunk party Nov. 11 to close out the season.
