The first Texas location of the Chicago-based Flat Top Grill, an Asian fusion stir-fry restaurant, will open in December in the Lower Heights mixed-use development at Studemont Street south of I-10.

The eatery combines full-service dining with an interactive, create-your-own bowl experience, according to a Sept. 7 press release. The brand serves as an "innovation lab" for parent company Mongolian Concepts Restaurant Group, which also operates Genghis Grill and BD's Mongolian Grill, according to the release.

Menu items at Flat Top Grill are made with hand-cut vegetables, scratch-made sauces and signature spices, according to the release. In addition to building their own bowls, diners can also order from a list of bowls, poke and ramen options. Desserts and cocktails are also available as well as keto, gluten-free, low-carb, vegan and vegetarian options.

Construction has been underway on the second phase of the Lower Heights District, where Home Depot opened earlier this month. A two-story office and retail space opened this summer, and the 27Seventy Lower Heights apartment complex is also located at the site. www.flattopgrill.com
