Pickleball, according to USA Pickleball, is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis, played on a badminton-sized court with a lower net than a tennis net.
As a former high school and college tennis player, TK discovered pickleball while working in California, according to an Aug. 25 news release. He won his first game—and kept winning—realizing immediately he’d found his new passion.
“We love the idea of combining ‘dink and drink’—enjoying great pickleball and socializing over drinks and food,” TK said in the release. “Lyric Market’s wide-ranging food offerings and the Lyric Bar make it the perfect home for Pickle Mania. Since we are in the heart of Downtown Houston, we felt this location would be an unmatched place to pickle during a lunch break or to blow off steam after a long day at work.”
Lyric Market is an innovative dining hall, bar and event space in Houston that includes a variety of tenants such as restaurants, cafes, cocktail bars and small businesses.
According to the release, Pickle Mania will feature seven cutting-edge indoor courts designed for players of all skill levels, including the opportunity for casual drop-in play to competitive leagues, tournaments and pro-led clinics. Memberships are available starting at $99 per month.
Beyond the courts, guests can use the provided treadmills and exercise bikes for additional exercise, or visit the lounge, which offers free Wi-Fi, cornhole and ping pong. A pro shop will also be added to the space with Pickle Mania paddles, apparel and gear.

A grand opening for the hotspot will occur Sept. 3 from 4-7 p.m. The event will include a live DJ, a pro-led pickleball clinic, drop-in play and fun court games. Giveaways, including a free month membership and a Lyric market gift card, will accompany complimentary swag and opening-day specials.
