Popular Houston pickleball spot PKL Social expands to include golf simulators, updated menu

Officials with PKL Social, a popular sports bar and pickleball destination along Shepherd Drive, announced July 15 details on how the spot is expanding and updating after 15 months of being open.

The brand is unifying with its sister concept, FM Kitchen & Bar, in an "all-in-one concept," which includes integrating favorite menu items from the restaurant into PKL Social. The updated menu will include its FM and Smash Burger, chopped chicken caesar and buffalo chicken wraps, fried shrimp and the Cali burrito, as well as its brunch menu.

The partnership also includes a refreshed cocktail menu featuring a LALO Cantarito and a Pineapple Coconut Margarita, along with an expanded non-alcoholic beverage section.

According to the news release, other enhancements include remodeling the outdoor patio and ice house. PKL Social will now feature two different sections, the ice house portion, formerly FM Kitchen & Bar, and the courtside portion.

The ice house will remain family-friendly, with the courtside portion remaining 21 and up. The bar program will include signature cocktails, beer, seltzer and wine options and an upgraded alcohol-free menu with Athletic Brewing Co. beers, craft mocktails, oat milk lattes, frozen strawberry lemonades and prebiotic sodas.

Additional updates also include installing two state-of-the-art Full Swing golf simulators. The simulators, according to the company's website, are high-end systems that aim to provide a realistic golf experience using advanced tracking technology.

PKL Social already boasts a 12,000-square-foot dog-friendly patio, over 20 big-screen TVs and four pickleball courts.

Operating Manager Jason Mok said the upgrades and expansion are a direct response to the demand for more from local residents.

“PKL Social is becoming so much more than a pickleball destination," he said in the release. "It’s a sports bar and event-centric destination with high energy and excellent food. With our new upgrades, we can offer customers everything from corporate events and happy hours to social events such as our game day and reality TV watch parties, popular bingo nights and cold plunge socials. We are excited to expand these options even further to be a true social destination for all.”

PKL Social will reveal its new concept July 26 to the public, which will include drink specials, raffle prizes, giveaways, a DJ and pop-up shops.
