Located at the corner of Montrose Boulevard and Westheimer Road at 1001 Westheimer Road, Houston, Montrose Live is evolving with a new look, according to a Jan. 7 news release.

What residents should know

Montrose Live is an open-air market in Montrose that launched in 2021 and is known for its tented pop-ups for local talents and artists.

The open-air market is getting a new look this year with enhancements to its 3-acre site. The new look includes seating areas with newly installed lighting for evening visits as well as two new businesses taking shape at the Container Galleries, a series of air-conditioned shipping containers converted into boutique businesses. The two new businesses will include a farm stand and a coffee shop with records and books.

Three new food trucks are also being added—Yummy's Hot Chicken, HoustatlantaVegan and Just Smash.

Yummy's Hot Chicken spotlights Nashville hot chicken with a Middle Eastern twist. Dishes include the Frywarma—Syrian chicken topped with pickled turnips and wrapped in pita bread—and Loaded Curry Fries with chopped chicken and nacho cheese.

Offering comfort food inspired by the cultures of both Houston and Atlanta, Houstatlanta Vegan features signatures like Thicc & Yella Mac; house-battered Rodeo Rings; the 97.9 Box with fried chicken tenders, fries and toast; plus the Hotlanta Chicken Sandwich, with crispy fried chicken breast dipped in hot oil and served on a brioche bun with slaw.

Just Smash includes the Patty Smelt on Texas toast; Smash Fries, incorporating two smashed beef patties with cheese and smash sauces; and the Salted Caramel Milkshake.

What else?

The market is also offering four tent shop collectives on weekends, with each shop focusing on offering a retail environment.

The Landfill emphasizes sustainability with ecofriendly, upcycled goods, vintage clothing and low-waste products. No Passport Needed offers diverse cultural experiences, including food, art and community events. Authenticated focuses on original designs and artwork from local artists and makers. Real Good Real Goods prioritizes organic foods and ingredient-conscious products.

“The collectives at Montrose Live were created to support businesses and creators who are passionate about delivering authentic and intentionally crafted offerings to their customers," Montrose Live founder Jessica Ivins said in the news release. "By providing a platform where they can grow and connect with the community, we’re helping them thrive while offering visitors something truly unique."
