Community Impact previously reported that the energy company originally opened in the Cy-Fair, Spring, Cinco Ranch and Mission Bend communities following its launch in Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth.
What you need to know
Base Power offers battery-powered home energy, a source of electricity that can keep Texans powered when power lines go down or the electric grid fails, per previous Community Impact reporting.
Co-owned by Zach Dell, Base Power is the only Texas energy provider that comes with home backup power, according to the news release. The energy company offers an all-in-one energy plan that includes an entire home backup battery, with no solar required. When the grid goes down, the battery automatically powers the home, according to the release.
“Houston has long been the energy capital of Texas, yet it has also endured some of the nation’s most painful lessons about unreliable power,” Dell said. “We see Houston not just as a place to expand, but as a proving ground for how the future of energy should work—resilient, dependable, and built to serve homeowners when it matters most.”
What else?
In addition to the Houston expansion, Base Power is introducing a new generator recharge port that allows a traditional portable generator to plug directly into the Base battery system, enabling it to power the entire home and recharge the battery during an extended outage, according to the release.
Base Power has raised $270 million from investors to accelerate the statewide expansion available in Greater Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and the counties north of Austin.
The company also opened a new office and warehouse in Katy at 22130 Merchants Way Ste.150, Katy with a local team of over 30 employees, said the release. Base Power is now serving 20 Houston communities including Sunterra, The Grand Prairie and Anniston.
