In a May 31 news release, Cy-Fair Helping Hands officials announced the nonprofit's new partnership with DoorDash to provide free deliveries of essentials to individuals in need. The delivery service will bring food and toiletries to senior citizens, homebound individuals, those lacking transportation and others in need.

The partnership is dubbed Project Dash and will have DoorDash drivers pick up boxes of donated goods from CFHH’s food pantry and deliver them to those nearby. This service is free of charge to the nonprofit and for those receiving deliveries as driver tips are not allowed or expected.

“The only requirement other than meeting financial-based criteria for the pantry is that their homes must be within a 10-mile radius as the crow flies,” CFHH Executive Director Janet Ryan said in the release.

CFHH officials said the program will emphasize convenience, privacy and dignity for its clients and allow the organization to assist those who were previously unreachable.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to partner with DoorDash,” Ryan said. “This collaboration allows us to serve people with no transportation, those who are homebound, and even moms with multiple small children who have such a stressful time waiting in the long lines to get food for their families. This partnership will also help to alleviate the long lines outside of the food pantry, making it a better experience for everyone.”
