Joel Castellanos and Pascale Petronin plan to open Cafe ZunZun at 12716 Telge Road, Cypress, on Memorial Day weekend. A ribbon cutting with the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce will be held May 27 at 11:30 a.m., and grand opening specials will run throughout the weekend, officials said.
Castellanos and Petronin founded the business in 2014 and have been selling organic coffees and teas at farmers markets and online for several years. This is their first brick-and-mortar location.
The European-style specialty coffee shop and roastery was constructed with sustainable materials and was designed in the shape of a bird for rainwater collection. Officials said the ZunZun bird is the smallest hummingbird in the world and is known to pollinate coffee plants in Castellanos’ home country of Cuba. 281-914-4906. www.cafezunzun.com
