The mother-daughter duo who previously ran Magpies Gifts on Barker Cypress Road in Cypress said they reopened in June as The Brook Home & Gift after taking full ownership of the location.

Co-owner and Cy-Fair resident Ally Haygood—who runs the shop with her mother, Chrissy Hignett—said The Brook is similar to Magpies in its offerings, and all of the staff has been retained from when the store operated as Magpies. The shop specializes in home decor items while also offering accessories; gifts; and clothing for men, women, children and babies.

"We like to tell our customers that it’s the same love, just a new name," Haygood said.

The store is located at 12344 Barker Cypress Road, Ste. 160, Cypress. Other locations of Magpies Gifts continue to operate in Bellaire and Sugar Land. 832-653-3041. www.facebook.com/thebrookhomeandgift
