Per a Feb. 11 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo news release, the HLSR has several new art installations, rides and food selections attendees can expect this season.

What to expect

To begin, the HLSR will unveil a new 100-foot mural by Houston-based artistic duo Made X Chilly on Feb. 27. In addition, attendees can expect new rides, food vendors and food selections.

New rides attendees can expect include:
  • Overdrive: a spinning amusement ride with random movements for riders of all ages
  • Enchanted Castle: a two-story mirror maze that features a fantasy-themed front with a classic house on the first floor and trick mirrors on the upper floor
  • Dragon Family Coaster: a family-friendly dragon-themed coaster
  • Hip Hop: swinging amusement rides that welcome 16 people for a ride of over 60 feet high
  • Heidi Rollercoaster: 10 cars spinning out on a speed spinning coaster at over 42 feet high along 1,400 feet of curves and hills with Bavarian themes and lighting effects

New foods to expect include:
  • Asian Streetness: a crab rangoon, snack pack combo and brisket fried rice
  • Casa de Yummy: a spicy pickle roll-up, fruit and vegetable Tajín cup, and churro ice cream cup sundae
  • Taco Love: elotes munchies nachos and hippie cowboy street tacos
  • Santa Lucia Greek Grill: Greek gyro fries
  • Saltgrass: flaming hot chili mac dog

Dates to know

Ahead of the HLSR season, rodeo enthusiasts can look forward to several prerodeo events, including:
  • March 4: Beginning at 10 a.m., the first 10,000 guests will receive a 2025 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo belt buckle.
  • March 5: The HLSR is open to active military personnel only for Armed Forces Appreciation Day.
  • March 6: On Sensory Friendly Day, a sensory-friendly guide will be available online and with directions and assistance.
  • March 7: Black Heritage Day features a step competition on the Junction Stage from 2:30-4 p.m.
  • March 16: Go Tejano Day features a grito competition and entertainment at the Junction Stage at 2:30 p.m. for kids and adults, Topo Chico Hard Seltzer’s Oasis at 3:30 p.m. for adults only and at the Miller Lite Ice House at 4 p.m. for adults only.
