In a June 6 news release, Lone Star College-CyFair announced its librarians are hosting various cat-themed programs, presentations, book clubs, contests and events in celebration of National Adopt-A-Cat Month this June at 9191 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress.
On top of weekly online events such as cat book recommendations with Ms. Laurie on Wednesdays at 10 a.m., Caturday Story Time and Crafting with Kitties at Special Pals Rescue on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, the library at LSC-CyFair has more events planned.
June 8: The Houston Grand Opera will teach an artist’s storybook opera in the Kids Corner at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
June 13: The Cat Advocacy 101 workshop will provide visitors with information on advocating for local cats. Local experts will share their experiences, hold demonstrations, share tips and provide resources for advocating for cats and kittens in Room 131 from 10-11 a.m.
June 15: A book club for tweens will meet at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
June 18: The Caturday Cat Cafe in LSC-CyFair’s library Room 131 will host cats for adoption from Purr Paws Rescue from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The event will also feature cat-themed games, a cat toy crafting station, beverages and confections from Voodoo Doughnuts. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
June 26: A virtual tour and Q&A of The Kitty Bodega is scheduled online at 1 p.m.
June 28: A live Webex of the #CatLoversBookClub will meet online at 6:30 p.m.
