The Houston Food Bank is holding a drive-thru fresh food drive Aug. 3 at Traders Village Houston, weather permitting. Families and individuals can drive-thru or walk up to the distribution event at 7979 N. Eldridge Parkway, Houston, to receive disaster boxes with nonperishable items and some produce from 8-11 a.m. or until supplies run out.
According to an Aug. 2 news release from the Houston Food Bank, the Center of Science and Industry will also be at the event distributing learning lunchboxes.
The goal of this event is to serve around 1,000 families with approximately 50 pounds of food per household. Should recipients need recipe ideas for the produce, members of the food bank’s nutrition education department will be on-site to advise.
Another food distribution event is planned for Aug. 17, according to the release.
