All Harris County voting centers have now submitted results from the March 5 primary elections. Brett Robinson won the Democratic primary for Texas House District 130 with 59.70% of votes against his opponent Henry Arturo, who earned 40.30% of votes. The county reported 4,047 ballots were cast in this race.

Robinson told Community Impact he is "so excited to hit the ground running."

A Cypress native, Robinson said he feels great and he "never felt more involved in the community and more loved."

Although votes are still being counted in Harris County as of 7:10 a.m., Brett Robinson appears to have won the Democratic primary race for Texas House District 130 with 2,204 votes, or 59.46%, followed by Henry Arturo, who has 1,503 votes, or 40.54%. Robinson will face Incumbent state Rep. Tom Oliverson, R-Cypress, for the Texas House District 130.

As of 10:30 p.m., 46 of 545 voting centers were reporting election results in Harris County. Brett Robinson maintained his lead with 61.97% of votes over Henry Arturo's 38.03%.

After tallying early voting and mail-in ballot results, the Harris County Clerk’s Office reports Brett Robinson is in the lead for the Texas House District 130 Democratic primary.


A closer look

Two Democrats were on the ballot in this Democratic primary for Texas House District 130:
  • Henry Arturo, a 12-year military veteran and business owner, received 850, or 38.01% of the votes prior to election day.
  • Brett Robinson, a graduate student at the University of Houston, received 1,386, or 61.99% of the votes prior to election day.
District 130, situated in northwest Harris County, encompasses portions of Tomball, Cypress, Waller and Hockley, and has a population of 194,555 residents, according to the 2020 U.S. Census.

Incumbent state Rep. Tom Oliverson, R-Cypress, is running unopposed in the Republican primary.

The winner of the Democratic primary will appear on the ballot for the November general election, where they will contend with Oliverson.
