Cooked in a food trailer in the parking lot of an Ace Hardware store, the award-winning Shooter ribs at Brooks’ Place in Cy-Fair are a smoky, juicy, fall-off-the-bone affair. The plate of pork ribs, with two sides, costs $14.99.

The food trailer, which originally opened in 2009 in Katy, relocated to the Cy-Fair area in 2010 after its owners decided to upgrade the trailer to make room for a larger customer base. Named one of “The Top 50 Barbecue Joints in Texas” by Texas Monthly, Brooks’ has a reputation for its fresh-out-the-pit barbecue.

Without revealing the secrets of the process, Brooks’ Place employee Dennis Autry said customers should visit the trailer to see for themselves what makes its ribs so popular.

“Our barbecue speaks for itself; our quality speaks for itself,” he said.

Brooks also serves brisket, sausage and pulled pork. Sides include potato salad, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and cranberry almond coleslaw. Chicken is only sold on Saturdays.

Family packs of food can be purchased in bulk. The eatery also provides catering services.
