Johnson Development Services, a residential and commercial development company in Houston, plans to bring 1,000 homes along with 11 acres of recreational and amenity space to Hockley in a 318-acre master-planned community, according to a June 20 news release.

The community, located south of FM 2920 off Hopfe Road is projected to deliver its first lots in the third quarter of 2025, according to the news release.

What happened

First Continental, a Houston-based lending company that specializes in development financing, approved a $41.8 million loan related to the project, which is the largest loan in the company’s 30-year history, according to the news release.

“This project marks a significant milestone for First Continental, representing our largest master-planned community loan financed to date,” First Continental President John Bonner said in the news release.



Also of note

The record-breaking loan marks the second project First Continental has closed through its master-planned community fund, and the ninth collaboration between First Continental and Johnson Development Services, according to the news release.

“We are delighted to collaborate with [First Continental] once again for this landmark project,” Johnson Development Services President Michael Cox said in the news release. “We are excited to begin construction and continue to meet the demand for high-quality community development in Houston.”
