Moviehouse & Eatery, an upscale dine-in movie theater, announced plans Sept. 23 for its first Houston location in the Cypress Creek Lakes master-planned community. Construction is expected to start in early 2016 with spring 2017 targeted for a grand opening.

"Cypress is the ideal community for our elevated dine-in theater concept," said Amy Dial, Moviehouse's director of marketing and events. "Our target markets are rapidly growing areas where our family-friendly atmosphere will be enjoyed and our exceptional cuisine and attention to detail will be valued."

The theater, which will be built on a 5.87-acre tract adjacent to the H-E-B at the northeast corner of Fry and Tuckerton roads, will feature 10 wall-to-wall screens, plush recliners and full food and beverage services in each auditorium.

The menu will be similar to other Moviehouse locations in Austin and North Texas, featuring meals made in-house, along with draft and bottled beer, wine, cocktails and desserts. The food menu includes pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, salads and specialty plates such as fish and chips, pork cutlet and a macaroni and cheese dish with bacon, sweet peas and scallions.

The theater is also known for hosting special events, such as Big Screen Classics, which involves showing hand-picked classic movies at half price.

Developers with Mischer Investments, the firm guiding development at Cypress Creek Lakes, said they are excited to be able to welcome Moviehouse to Houston.

“We believe Moviehouse is going to be an excellent addition not only to the Cypress Creek Lakes community, but to the surrounding communities as well,” Mischer Executive Vice President Mark A. Kilkenny said.

Moviehouse officials are working to identify other possible locations for theaters in the Houston area, but have not announced specific plans yet, Dial said.
