AEP Adventures, a family corporation including Alicia and Eric Bernal as well as Patricia and Luz Frausto, took ownership of Kanga's Indoor Playcenter on April 19, officials said.

Although Kanga's Indoor Playcenter is a franchise with locations in The Woodlands and Katy, each location has unique features along with the franchise main attractions including an indoor playground, a pirate ship and a rock wall.

The details

Kanga's Indoor Playcenter was previously owned by Castor Coleman. The business has remained open during the ownership transition with the exception of its six-day closure after Hurricane Beryl due to damages.

AEP Adventures officials said the facility's lighting, cafe menus, pricing and activities have been updated.

Admission is $10.99 for ages 1-2 and $12.99 for ages 3 and up. September specials include $5 admission on Tuesdays and $7 admission on Thursdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Adults are admitted for free.

What's next

The new owners will be adding new attractions such as a carousel. Co-owner Alicia Bernal said customers can expect the new attractions to be available by next summer.

In the meantime, on Sept. 8, the Cy-Fair location will be holding a grand reopening event featuring food specials, a balloon artist and activities such as bingo, Jenga and face painting.

Also of note

Alicia Bernal said AEP Adventures is partaking in community efforts by holding spirit nights in which the business will offer after-hours parties for local schools and give 35% of proceeds back to the schools.

Officials are also partnering with Harris County to offer 10 children in foster care free birthday parties each month.
