After serving the community for 10 years as owner of Animal ER of Northwest Houston, Jennifer Hennessey sold the business to her colleague, Michelle Winthrow, effective Feb. 20.

According to a statement from the business, Hennessey will continue to work occasional shifts as she “will be spending more time in [her] second home state, Alaska.”

Winthrow joined the staff a year and a half ago as an emergency room veterinarian and served as the clinic’s medical director before becoming the owner, officials said.

Animal ER of Northwest Houston is open 24/7 to offer diagnostic services as well as emergency care and management for pets. The privately owned veterinary emergency practice received the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year award for 2023.

Hennessey also owned Wonder Pet Rehabilitation, which will no longer operate following the ownership transition, according to the website.
