The details
Council members authorized the sale of city property, which previously served as a public works space, for a total of $3.16 million. The two properties–located at 12424 Taylor Road and 12527 Taylor Road in Cypress–will now be utilized as a food product manufacturing and warehouse facility, according to city documents.
City Manager Austin Bleess said the property located at 12527 Taylor Road still houses the city’s public works and parks departments. The city will be able to lease the property from Agrohansa for up to 18 months in six-month increments.
However, the lease agreement is also dependent on passage of bond measures on the Nov. 4 general election ballot, Bleess said. The bond proposition seeks $21.6 million to construct a new city campus space, which would house city facilities.
“If the bond propositions do not pass, then we will need to evaluate the options for community operations, public works and parks departments beyond the lease period, including potential lease extensions or alternative site agreements,” Bleess said.
Also of note
City Council also approved an ordinance modification to allow for Friend and Companion pet grooming and daycare services to open in the former Bank of America building at 8200 Jones Road in Cypress. The ordinance change went through the city's Planning and Zoning Commission, where it was also approved unanimously.
