Commissioners from the Harris County Emergency Services District No. 9 will proceed with filling a vacant board seat at their July 31 meeting, potentially finalizing their selection for a new commissioner.
The ESD 9 board announced a short list of candidates during a June 24 meeting after publicly interviewing nine applicants.
In case you missed it
The board selected three finalists in June for consideration to replace Commissioner Kevin Stertzel, who announced his resignation in April.
- Andrew Choi has been living in the Cy-Fair area for 10 years and is an emergency physician at Memorial Hermann Cypress.
- Cameron Dickey is the CEO and president of Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union, where he has worked for 12 years, and an elected representative for the Harris County Water Control and Improvement District 157.
- David Langenberg is the fire chief at Humble Fire Department and a former ESD 9 commissioner from 2016-2024.
Also on the agenda
The board will also discuss next steps for the construction of Station 15 and Station 17, two of eight proposed new fire stations.
Discussion will also take place regarding the authority of the board chair—currently President Rob Pavia—to skip agenda items during a meeting. Commissioner Bevin Gordon added this item to the July agenda at the end of the June 24 meeting. Read the full agenda here.
