Mayor James Singleton said the city had been discussing redevelopment for years, but the project was delayed due to community feedback and funding planning. The project came in about $15,000 under budget, Singleton said, with the renovation totaling $845,000.
“This is not just a bunch of steel, metal, slides and things to play on,” Singleton said. “This is absolutely an investment in our community [and] our children.”
