The Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees will discuss math instruction, library materials and a small handful of policy revisions during its October meetings. Here’s what’s on the agenda.

In a nutshell

The board will take up a routine list of agenda items during its Oct. 2 work session and Oct. 6 regular board meeting, with a couple of policy revisions on the table.

In accordance with state law, the district will discuss revising its policies to clarify that failing to use a child’s preferred pronoun or provide gender affirming care does not meet the definitions of “child abuse and neglect.” District employees will also have to report believed instances of abuse or neglect within 24 hours, instead of the previous 48.

Other items of note include:

  • Consider approving math instructional materials for grades K-8 and Algebra I
  • Consider approving the acquisition of procured or donated library materials, which were posted to the district’s website Sept. 5
  • Consider revisions to the required instruction policies for middle and high school students, specifically pertaining to Olympic-caliber training programs
Board President Scott Henry will also announce where each trustee stands with their state-mandated continuing education requirements, which include cybersecurity, public information and Texas Open Meetings Act training.
