The Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees will consider revisions to several district policies at its upcoming Aug. 7 work session, including items relating to library materials, parent rights and “teaching about controversial issues.”

In a nutshell

District policy and student conduct revisions are standard practice ahead of a new academic year, and the board has a packed agenda to address. Potential revisions to CFISD policies include:
  • Instructional resources - library materials
  • Academic achievement - grading and progress reports to parents
  • Parent rights and responsibilities, which includes the district’s pronoun policy
  • Compensation and benefits - leaves and absences
  • Miscellaneous instructional policies - teaching about controversial issues
Attendees can register to speak during general citizen participation or about specific items.

Also on the agenda

The board will consider approval of the 2025-26 student code of conduct dictating prohibited behavior and disciplinary authority.

Trustees are also scheduled to review a potential resolution to declare a “good cause exception” for the state’s armed security officer requirement, which may be submitted if a district lacks available funding or qualified personnel to comply with the law.
