Local Mexican restaurant Mi Tierra Mexican Kitchen has closed its doors after less than two years of service, according to a June 11 social media post from the owners.

What we know

Kate Mancia opened the restaurant with Houston chef Martin Weaver in October 2023. Mancia did not provide a reason for the closure, but she posted that Mi Tierra was "a dream, a risk, a labor of love and a huge part of [her] soul."

The business specialized in modern takes on Mexican cuisine, serving dishes like smoked duck carnitas, gochuchang short ribs and street-style tacos al pastor, according to its Facebook.

"This isn't goodbye to the dream," Mancia posted in June. "It's just a pause, a redirection. I carry forward the good memories, the food, the flavors and the spirit of what Mi Tierra represented wherever life takes me next."
