Former Jersey Village Mayor Andrew Mitcham opened the brewery in 2020 after forming a neighborhood beer group called Dads, Driveways and Drafts, Community Impact previously reported. Located on Dillard Drive, the small business has since grown into a hub for trivia nights, happy hours and pop-up events for the Jersey Village community.

Mitcham told Community Impact he doesn't intend on changing what's proven to be a successful business model.

"We're staying committed to serving the taste and needs of the hyperlocal community," he said.

Respecting the craft

Senate Avenue Brewing Co. has won several awards for its small-batch craft beers, including three consecutive medals in the annual Texas Craft Brewers Cup. Mitcham said the brewery also entered 12 beers into the Great American Beer Festival competition, or as he called it "the Academy Awards" of beer competitions, which will announce winners by mid-October.

Community members can find a calendar of events on the brewery's website, such as the Senate Avenue Oktoberfest celebration happening Oct. 4 from noon-9 p.m.
