Any commuter in the Lake Conroe area can tell you that traffic seems to be increasing as more people move to our community. There are many ongoing projects that should bring some relief to residents in the short term, which we feature on Page 11, but there are many more improvements left to be made.
To plan for the future, Montgomery County maintains a thoroughfare plan that outlines long-term plans for mobility improvements throughout the region. This plan was updated in collaboration with the Houston-Galveston Area Council in 2016.

The H-GAC also offers regional long-term planning for mobility improvements. On April 4, H-GAC officials hosted a public outreach meeting to speak with residents to discuss its 2045 Regional Transportation Plan and the need for new or improved roads, bike lanes, sidewalks and public transit options in Montgomery County. The RTP is a long-range plan that prioritizes spending on regional transportation projects, and it is updated every four to five years.
