The details
The council unanimously awarded a $513,432 contract for a new traffic signal at the intersection of Hwy. 105 and Sixth Street and a $545,377 contract for improvements at Hwy. 75 and FM 2854, per the agenda. Both contracts were awarded to Statewide Traffic Signal Company.
Norman McGuire, assistant city administrator and public works director, said these intersections are some of the last remaining span-wire traffic signals in Conroe.
“Over the last 10 or 15 years, we’ve worked pretty aggressively updating the traffic signals within the city,” McGuire said. “These are two of our oldest left.”
The upgrades will convert the intersections to mast-arm signals with pedestrian crossing components, including pavement markings, traffic sign removals and installation with minor pavement and concrete work, according to the agenda.
According to the agenda, the projects have a substantial completion date of 270 days.
