Montgomery City Council will meet a handful of times before approving its fiscal year 2025-26 budget and tax rate.

The gist

Before the council adopts the budget, city staff and elected officials will follow the schedule below to meet and discuss the upcoming budget and tax rate.
Montgomery City Council passed a FY 2024-25 budget of $6.9 million in revenue and $6.7 million in expenditures, as previously reported. The approved tax rate for FY 2024-25 is $0.4000 per $100 valuation, which has remained the same for six consecutive years.

Also of note

Montgomery will also start using a new platform, ClearGov, to compile the budget this year, Finance Director Maryann Carl said. The digital platform will allow residents to view and access expenditure details.

“What this is doing for us is allowing us to have a more interactive budgeting process,” Carl said. “Finance and the department heads, we're able to communicate back and forth and not have to set up meetings or track somebody down.”
