The database will be used to help identify individuals who are lost and return them to their caregivers, according to the city’s website.
In a nutshell
Individuals with Alzheimer’s, autism spectrum disorder, dementia and Down syndrome tend to be a risk for wandering, according to the city’s website. The program is the city’s way to help ensure individuals are returned home safely.
“We have so much growth that's approaching the city, and as the city grows, we want to be able to provide these services for members of our community,” Montgomery Police Lieutenant Joe Belmares said. “We figure if we can implement it now, then we can get ahead of the growth. ... This program will help everybody within the community.”
