Two-minute impact
Following a lengthy executive session, Sanders was appointed to complete the term left by Matt Beasley, who left the office to take over as chief of staff for Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler.
Assistant County Attorney Amy Davidson explained to commissioners that Texas Local Government Code requires the county to fill the position as opposed to holding a special election. However, the seat will be on the general election ballot in November 2026 and Sanders' term will go through the end of 2026.
Sanders is a real estate broker and owner of Mustard Seed Realtors in The Woodlands area, and he ran for Precinct 3 commissioner in 2016.
In their words
"It's a blessing," Sanders said. "God has allowed this to occur and I look forward to working with the constituency in Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 and looking forward to hitting the ground running."

Wheeler also announced he will be forming a focus group to gain feedback from residents on a name for the new South Montgomery County Library and Community Center being built by Howard Hughes. The library was previously given the name Heroes of Montgomery County by former Commissioner James Noack; however, Wheeler said he received some feedback from residents that "wanted to put a little bit more time and thought into the naming."
