The city of Conroe has hired Michael Corbett to serve as downtown manager, according to an Aug. 11 news release.

Corbett, who previously worked for The Woodlands Township, will focus on promoting downtown Conroe, according to the news release. His responsibilities include overseeing economic development, programming, infrastructure improvements, cultural arts, destination marketing, grant funding initiatives and working with local businesses, government agencies and nonprofits.

Frank Robinson, who previously held the role, retired in January. Conroe City Council recognized him at its Jan. 12 meeting.
