June 24: Donate to the VFW

The local Veterans of Foreign Wars is raising funds for the new post in Montgomery to promote families and Americanism at the N.H. Davis Pioneer Complex and Museum. The VFW will be serving a plate with barbecue chicken, pinto beans and potato salad for sale.

June 24: Attend a summer bash

The Pine Market open-air retail complex in Woodforest is welcoming the summer with a family-friendly summer bash. The roadway will be blocked to vehicular traffic to allow for a giant inflatable slide, bounce houses, a rock wall, crafts, balloon artists, face painters and more. Pine Market businesses will have giveaways, food and beverage samples, and special discounts.June 24: Check out a nature fest

The Texas A&M Master Naturalists are holding a mini nature festival where the newest graduates will share their research and discuss their favorite topics. The event includes refreshments followed by the graduation ceremony. RSVPs are appreciated.

June 25: Eat some charro beans


Southern Star Brewery is holding its third annual Charro Bean contest. The showdown will take place in the air-conditioned taproom where 25-30 contestants will provide samples of their homemade charro bean recipes.
