Father's Day and Juneteenth are this weekend. Father's Day will be celebrated June 18, and local businesses in Conroe and Montgomery are hosting a variety of events to enjoy with your dad this weekend. Juneteenth, a holiday to celebrate the emancipation of African American slaves, is June 19.

June 17: Convince dad to get a dog

The Montgomery County Animal Shelter is hosting Dogs for Dads, an adoption festival at the shelter. There will be activities, a photo booth, prizes and giveaways.

June 17: Bring the whole family to Majestic Sport

Majestic Youth Sports in Willis is hosting a Father's Day event called Chips, Sips and Flips with activities for the whole family. Dads can enter a Texas Hold 'Em competition for $50 while mom participates in Bottle Bingo, for which wine is the prize. For kids, there will be an open gym and pizza available. The event will also include street tacos for purchase and a silent auction for three different gift baskets.June 17: Celebrate Juneteenth


The Willis Development Corp. is hosting Juneteenth, a holiday of remembrance with dancing, praise and music at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Willis. The event will include free barbecue, water slides, free T-shirts and a mechanical bull. There will also be a three-on-three basketball tournament, a clown, train rides and a balloon artist.June 18: Go bowling

Time to Spare Entertainment is hosting a Father's Day Dad's & Drafts event, where dads will bowl free with the purchase of a game. Draft beer is also available at the Sanbaggers Pub located next to the bowling alley.June 18: Bring dad to The Grille

The Breakwater Grill in the Walden community is hosting a Father's Day event with a cornhole contest at 1 p.m., live music starting at 4 p.m. and a grandpa/dad shorts competition.June 18: Catch a musical

The Greater Conroe Arts Alliance is bringing “The Bird Cage” musical to the Owen Theatre in Conroe for the 40th anniversary of the performance. Also known as “La Cage aux Folles,” the play features glamorous costumes, musical numbers and a story of love.
